There are many parts of history, one built on top of the other.

 

 Think of how it once looked long ago to the first explores that came here. Think further back how it might look to Native Americans as they lived here for centuries. Still further back in time how it looked when the sea levels were 400 feet lower. When the space between  Fort Point and the north side of the bay was all forest and the bay was

gone and only a river flowed through these two points.

Keep in mind that things change over time. Sea levels rise and fall over time flooding lands. Wind and rain erode soil, water freezes in cracks of rocks and breaks them apart. Water in rivers and streams erode banks and change the course, washing things away. Humans move things.

 You stand on an ever-changing planet, however slowly.
